SEGUNDO ORELLANA

PAINTER

BASED IN LONG ISLAND

Segundo Orellana is a multifaceted painter who enjoys the freedom of painting outdoors to capture the colors and light of nature as well as creating murals and public art projects that impact his community. He also spends part of his time in his studio creating his own collections or commission works. In his career of more than 25 years, he has created hundreds of paintings in oil, acrylic, pencil, pastel and charcoal.

 

Segundo was born in the Andes of Ecuador but immigrated to Patchogue, NY where he has lived for 30 years. Segundo's art and murals are part of a permanent collection and public art  projects on display at Islip Town, Patchogue Village, Patchogue Library, and several downtown restaurants in Long Island, NY. 

 

Second's work has been shown at the Phoenix Fine Arts Gallery, Queens Museum, Patchogue Art Council, Ecuadorian Consulate and the Soho Gallery among others. His art has also been exhibited in libraries, community centers, government buildings and universities . 

 

His talent and artistic career have been recognized by the American Folklife Center at the Library of the USA Congress,  Consulate of Ecuador, NYS Senator Monica Martinez, , Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Legislator Samuel Gonzalez, Islip Town and Patchogue Village. 

His work has been reviewed in media such as Newsday, El Advance Newspaper,, Great South Bay Magazine, Noticias USA, La Fiesta Radio, and Latinus News.
